The post-punk / indie band A PROJECTION, founded in 2013 in Stockholm, had to reinvent themselves after their first two releases, "Exit" (2015) and "Framework" (2017), and mastered this Herculean task without denying their sources of musical inspiration coming from the late 70s and early 80s.

First, after the departure of the original singer Isak Erikson, the band had to search for an adequate replacement on the mic who meets the original vibe of the band. Rikard Tengvall, previously active as the bass player of the band, fills this gap without any problems and stylistically ties in with the exploits of the two previous albums.

The songwriting sessions for their third album, "Section", came at a time when the band was constantly challenged by several changes of members and also health problems, but in the end the band grew - both humanly and musically. The songs on "Section" are bursting with power, garnished with plenty of punk attitude, fast, rough and accustomed dark and emotional.

A Projection, on the other hand, has solved the oversized shadows of their former Post-punk role models, with whom they were initially compared again and again. Over three albums, the five-person team has managed to create their own sound universe and build their own identity, which oscillates between the poles New Wave, Post-Punk, Gothic and Indie Rock. On the other hand, the Stockholm quintet has relied on proven structures and recorded, mixed and mastered the songs for "Section" at Stockholm's Redmount Studio.

Together with the new label partner Metropolis Records they quickly agreed on "Something Whole" as an outstanding, trend-setting first single.

This song brings together all the virtues that we find again and again on the eleven-track long player: a catchy hook line, a vocal that transports depth, emotionality and real '80s spirit and a strong foundation of drifty drums, creaky basses and shimmering guitar sounds that are strong reminiscent of the spearheads of the early '90s goth rock movement.

With "Section", the band has delivered a well thought-out, varied and strong third album despite all the crises of the past.
The new release is combination of the bands legacy of their previous works but also as a foundation for the future of congenial Swedes from A Projection.

When they are calling your name And directions are doubling with speed The many goals are tearing holes In both our souls and bodies Break the chains tonight Won't you help me kill some pain tonight ‘Cause when we’re walking through town Moving with ease under streetlights We’re touching something profound So much deeper than peace So much deeper than anything else And as we’re walking through town And as I’m holding your hand in my hand now We’re in the midst of it all Taking part of something whole What’s left of your childhood dreams They’re just rags in the creditors' hands Distractions come, distractions go But nothing really pays Pays the bills Get out there and do some good tonight But when we’re walking through town Moving with ease in the daylight We’re touching something profound So much deeper than peace so much deeper than anything else And as we’re walking through town And as I’m holding your hand in my hand now We’re in the midst of it all Taking part of something whole Taking part of something whole That might save your soul Taking part of something whole That might save your soul Something whole Save your soul Something whole Save your soul

Strange 03:50
Well inside the borders you can travel very far The depths are staggering from where you are Though the darker corners of the old worlds still rings through The deeds and wastes are dwelling far from you Strange times Full of war and crimes But we’re standing close together We are here and we’re the future Passed times That could make you cry But I hold tight as we move Heading straight into the future By the intersections where technology met art Prosperity and weapons forged our hearts The beaches that witnessed atrocities remain Now children play here, and it’s calm again Strange chimes As we pass though times But we’re standing close together We are here and we’re the future Passed times That could make you cry But I hold tight as we move Heading straight into the future Soon we’ll be gone Soon we’ll be gone Strange times Full of war and crimes But we’re standing close together We are here and we’re the future Passed times That could make you cry But I hold tight as we move Heading straight into the future Passed times That could make you cry Passed times That could save your life

Time 02:32
The leaves are falling They fall to the ground Our duties leave no time To be lost and be found It’s the time of the year When an array of sentiments Is weighing on my back A time to Suffer and repent Another time is flying by In summertime when you and I We had each other My God, it should have been us We’d open time and again Opened our hearts and our minds And I knew you were my friend But life is strange and often So hard to predict On different sides within A larger conflict Another time is flying by In summertime when you and I Another time is flying by In summertime when you and I We had each other In the summertime When you and I…

Substitute 03:59
You do still long for the source True reasons and a good cause A breach in time Another face Another body And we’re betraying what we are But you feel no remorse Tonight Wake me up We are but substitutes in this world We use substitutes in this place We are but substitutes in this world We use substitutes here I am fed Wake me up You wanted more Than they gave And you’ve suffered But you can’t go back in time So, you’ll use What you have In front of you And you’re used By the others Mutual benefits And deals are settled By and large Without words We are but substitutes in this world We use substitutes in this place We are but substitutes in this world We use substitutes here I am fed Wake me up Wake me up To a day Beyond What we might find down here In the face of love In the face of your fear In the face of trust In the face of the past You will bow down And cry We are but substitutes in this world We use substitutes in this place A higher purpose awaits you soon When your mind And your body’s in full bloom I am fed Wake me up

Verdicts 03:39
What will they say when you’re gone What will the coffins resound Verdicts strung out in eternity Spinning around and around Back at the trenches, alert! Events are fired at you No time to listen to your weak heart You need to go now, just go Some people are shooting for money Others are shooting for fame The race is there and if you back down You’ll lose prestige and win shame Fermented hatred inside That has been aging for years Should have come out when the time was ripe Sadly subdued by cold fear But if the pleasure and pain will revert We just might get rid of the dirt Through cowardice, piece by piece, All dignity’s stripped away He let fear get the best of him Hurried away, went astray Did you accept her violent words The touch of his violent hands You thought you could make them go away By making few or no stands But if the pleasure and pain will revert And the bridges will tumble and fall We just night get rid of the dirt The coffins rise once and for all And it all will come back to you And I will do too But for now the conditions remain And we’re staying the same

Lucy Shrine 03:36
I’ve been trying to reach that state where I won’t be bothered anymore I’ve been trying to get some balance, but I can’t get past that burning shore The silhouettes that pass me by here in the rain They all do look like you, seen through a broken window pane Lucy, how strong you made me feel when you were mine You built a wall of safety around our common ground Crumbling at your feet, I realized you were the shrine I broke the rules, you left, our memories scattered all around And it’s so hard not to hate the one that hurts you all the time Well I do not speak of you and what I do is nothing but a crime Some people laugh and others turn away in grief I might be stronger after ever so little relief Oh god, how strong you made me Feel when you were mine You built a wall of safety Around our common ground Crumbling at your feet I realized you were the shrine You broke the wall and left Our memories scattered all around And though the days are passing You stay in my mind The memories you left behind they mock me all the time But if you would return now What would you find I’m half the man I used to be when you were still around Lucy, how strong you made me feel when you were mine You built a wall of safety around our common ground Crumbling at your feet, I realized you were the shrine I broke the rules, you left, our memories scattered all around Our memories scattered all around Lucy, you left our common ground Our memories scattered all around Lucy, you were my sacred shrine

Down 02:55
So, this is life we’re facing Pumping hard through our veins It’s quite a violent playground I’d change it for another place To get what I want here I have to turn you around But you’ve got your own agenda That says you need to put me down Put me down Down the stairs On the ground Fight for air Trying to get my message across Trying to get my heart through to you People on the shelves stay in their places Never give a clue what to do Suddenly you grab my head Viciously turn it around And everybody knows what’s next You are going to put me down Put me down On the floor On the ground Beg for more On the ground Turn away Lost or found You will pay

Diffusion 04:01
Mental Diffusion Just won’t concentrate On his life Illusions For every gestalt So many impressions And we’re floating Between images of joy And of pain Below it all The movements of his End can still be felt Stressed but not coming on I can’t get along with time And it’s so hard to choose what’s right Too stressed to move on I can’t get along with time And it’s so hard to choose what’s right I can’t break through Need to get to you in time before Our love fades away Oh, distractions Spills his time into Urns that leak Attractions For every gestalt So many impressions And we’re floating Between images of calm And of strife The bitter taste Of disappointments Pulls him further down Stressed but not coming on I can’t get along with time And it’s so hard to choose what’s right Too stressed to move on I can’t get along with time And it’s so hard to choose what’s right I can’t break through Need to get to you in time before Our love fades away Stressed but not coming on I can’t get along with time And it’s so hard to choose what’s right Too stressed to move on I can’t get along with time And it’s so hard to choose what’s right Spills his time In urns that leak Sleep’s a crime To you I’ll creep before Our love fades away

Live Again 02:59
Senses are heightened You must exist Conditions fail you Still you insist When we are choking and air’s nowhere to be found Faith, hope and love Three pathways to safer ground As we go through the darkest nights All tangled up and in search of lights Know: After all’ve passed by There will be days ahead again You’ve been found guilty And you’ve done wrong Accept the penance Humble and strong Society can help in, oh, so many ways But if you cross the lines And they find out, then you will have to pay As we go through the darkest nights All tangled up and in search of lights Know: After all’ve passed by There will be days ahead again As we go through the darkest nights All tangled up and in search of lights Know: After all’ve passed by You and I, we will live again

Disbelief 04:05
I can’t believe them After what they’ve done The truths were killed one by one And though the streets still Are calling your name There’s nothing here But pain and shame If we went into exile Traveling lost mile after mile No traces left behind We would change our faces and names Rid ourselves of old shame Different landscapes would pass us Affecting our minds I can’t believe me Look what I’ve done I let my dreams go one by one But if I left here Carrying my weight Could I shake Off my own fate If we went into exile Traveling lost mile after mile No traces left behind We would change our faces and names Rid ourselves of old shame Different landscapes would pass us Affecting our minds In your hearts: the past In your hearts: the past
